VARAHA AVATAR OF LORD VISHNU (NARAYAN)

Swayambhu Manu was one of the sons of Lord Brahma. Lord Brahma had created him to make progress in the recreation of the universe after the Great Deluge.

When Swayambhu Manu goes to fulfil the orders of Lord Brahma he sees that the earth is submerged in water. He then prays to Lord Brahma that if the earth is submerged in water how can he recreate the universe. Hearing the prayers of Swayambhu Manu, Lord Brahma praya to Lord Vishnu to find a solution to this problem. Lord Vishnu then takes the form of a tiny Varaha(boar) and falls into the water from the nose of Lord Brahma. After entering the water the boar grows into a gigantic form of himself. It has sharp and strong hairs on its body and huge tusks. After this Lord Vishnu in the form of the gigantic boar goes inside the water and pulls out the earth on his tusks. He goes up to keep the earth in its place but he is interrupted by Hiranyaksha, a very mighty demon of that time. Lord Vishnu then defeats and kills Hiranyaksha being in the form of the boar. After the fight, Lord Vishnu places the earth in its respected position, so that Swayambhu Manu can start the process of recreation. This was the story of Lord Vishnu's other avatar for the betterment of the universe.
